We know this is just the beginning of what we can achieve together…
Facilitated children to come out of war traumatic effects through child counselling sessions which give them the opportunity of freely sharing their inner feelings before they are guided to adopt positive coping mechanism.
Facilitated children to group themselves into peace clubs from where they share their experiences and support one another. Through our 10 peace clubs we have been able to reach out to 1,523 comprising of 672 males and 851 females.
Organized community peace dialogue meetings that bring together local leaders, cultural leaders, religious leaders, opinion leaders and the general public to discuss the plight of children/youth affected by war. The purpose of these dialogues is to propose practical solutions to reducing children’s vulnerability in their communities.
Sponsored a total of 132 students (69 females and 63 males). As of 2016, 148 students (primary and secondary and Tertiary) are fully enrolled in a single year and are in full sponsorship program in Lira schools and other parts of the country. However, that number is just a fraction of the children who deserve support out of the 3,000 children/youth identified in 2016; Engaged children in various non-academic sessions in areas of health, social life, spiritual life, environment, rights etc; Played parental role by visiting our sponsored children during school visitation days.
Initiated and increased productivity of people thus, improving quality of life for them through introducing and funding activities such as apiculture, agribusiness, aquaculture, and peace savings and credit schemes; 900 beehives have been distributed to 90 households.

Established 25 Peace savings and credit schemes; from which 1137 beneficiaries have so far benefited from their own small revolving funds and SEED MONEY from CPU.
Supported child-headed households with food and non-food items for their nutritional requirements and house hold items.
Supported over 10 to access corrective surgery in CORSU, Entebbe while about 500 others have been supported to access other medical services at National Referral Hospital Mulago.
Made advocacy via radio talk shows aimed at raising awareness on child rights issues to empower the children, communities and stakeholders by bringing children/youth, cultural and religious leaders on board to discuss challenges on air challenges facing integration and reintegration.
Made 3 presentations in The Hague highlighting issues affecting children where the recent was on 11th July, 2016. CPU participated in developing child protection policy for children affected by war. Other presentations have been in Nairobi, Ghana and within Uganda.
Supported child-headed households with food and non-food items for their nutritional requirements and house hold items.
We are planning to build the Peace Centre, that will comprise of Agricultural Institute, to promote Agribusiness among our youths, a Primary School to absorb more of our OVC children as compared to the number we are sponsoring in other schools right now; a school clinic and our office. 18 acres of land has been purchased in Ngetta, the outskirts of Lira City for this purpose.
We also plan to integrate access to justice issues with our programs especially for children and widows who find challenges in administering estates of the late fathers / husbands because of rigid cultural settings. This category will be helped process letters of administration, conduct Alternative Dispute Resolutions (ADR’s), protect their rights to own property especially land.
Lastly, we further plan to expand our projects both in terms of coverage and projects beneficiaries.
